Good news for owners of HDTVs. Freeview will be broadcast in full HD quality from 2009.
The bad news is that you will need a new set top box to watch the new services.
There will be four free HD channels including the BBCs current service.
Ofcom reports that the new services will add to the range and diversity of TV and contribute to public service broadcasting.
The benefit for broadcasters is enormous as they can launch new services without using any new spectrum.
Users can have access to these services on free to air which is brilliant.
