Simon vs Graham

Graham Norton, presenter of ‘I’d Do Anything’, mocked the use of “sob stories” on rival talent show ‘Britains Got Talent’.  He singled out Andrew Johnston, a 13yr old contestant on the show who was bullied at school for wanting to be an opera singer.

Simon Cowell was less than happy about his criticism and has hit back by saying that Norton should have kept his thoughts to himself and concentrated on his own programme.

Cowell told the sun:-

“I read what Graham said and I thought it was incredibly arrogant. I don’t get into that ‘which show is better?’ rubbish. He should think before he speaks next time.”

Fellow judge on ‘Britains Got Talent’ Piers Morgan described Graham Norton as a:-

“mincing, talentless fool”

Piers Morgan, chat show host?

‘Britains Got Talent’ judge Piers Morgan is to present his own chat show. He has signed a two-year deal with ITV and is the first big name signing for the new director of ITV Peter Fincham.

Morgan will still return for a third series of ’Britains Got Talent’ and start his new chat show next year.

Piers had this to say:-

“I am delighted to be joining ITV at such an exciting time of change and evolution for the network, and look forward to making some innovative new entertainment programmes over the next few years,”

Fincham said:-

“I’m delighted that we have been able to secure an exclusive partnership with him on ITV.”

George Sampson wowed judges last night on ‘Britains Got Talent’. He pulled off a stunning preformance showing how much he had improved from last year where he was knocked out at an early stage. He danced to the remixed version to singing in the rain, which ended with him actully break dancing in the rain. All three judges thougt his preformance was brilliant and a fantastic end to a good show, he made it through on the phone votes alone.

Martial arts duo Strike (Liam Richards and Danny Ball) also made it to the final. They also managed to pulled off a great performance and the routine was flawless. I dont think anyone expected them to be able to top there first act but they certainly came through, piers had this to say:-

They have danced punched and karate kicked their way in to the final.

As you would expect it was Amanda Holden who loved them most. Simon said that they are one of his favourite acts.

Michael Finally got FIRED!!!

Michael Sophocles has become the latest victim of the boardroom.

The 25 year old, self-proclaimed ‘exceptional individual’ lost the luxury car rental task by a landslide. This week’s task required the candidates to rent a selection of Aston Martins, Ferraris, Lamborghinis or Pagini Zondas to the public.

Lee’s team took a high risk gamble and chose the expensive Zonda to sell, which paid off as his takings amounted to £11,815, Michaels team made just £2,114.

Michael had been hanging on by a thread for the last couple of weeks after poor decisions during the tasks have had him pleading with Sir Alan in the boardroom on many occasions just to stay in the competion however, his luck ran out this week.

There was a moment where we all thought he had got away with it again, when it seemed Sir Alan was going to fire Helena instead as she was equally as useless in this task. Unless she pulls something out of her hat next week to impress Sir Alan’s unforgiving interviewers then she will soon be yet another victim of the boardroom.

Sydney Pollack dies age 73

US director Sydney Pollack died on Monday at his home in Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles. It had been 10 months since he had been diagnosed with cancer.

He is best remembered by winning, producing and directing Oscars in 1985 for ’Out of Africa’, starring Robert Redford and Meryl Streep.

Other well known movies he directed were ‘Tootsie’ with Dustin Hoffman  and ’The Way We Were’, in which Redford partnered Barbra Streisand.

George Clooney, (who starred in ’leatherheads’, which Pollack was the executive producer) had this to say:-

“Sydney made the world a little better, movies a little better and even dinner a little better,”

“A tip of the hat to a class act. He’ll be missed terribly.”

Michael Starke who plays Kebab shop boss Jerry Morton in the soap sensation coronation street, did not know that he was being axed until he read about it in a newspaper.

Starke’s character and his whole on-screen family was believed not be settling in very well and as a result the decision was made to write him, Mel (Emma Edmonson), Darryl (Johnny Dixon), Kayleigh (Jessica Bardon) and Finlay (Ramone Quinn) out of the the ITV1 show.

”There was a leak, so I was at home when I got the news. It was very unfortunate, but that’s the way it goes in this business,”

Michael told the Liverpool Daily Post.

“You shouldn’t find out about your job like that, but there are a lot of sacrifices that you make in this game.”
“We have been adrift, because we haven’t had many storylines and those that we have had have been dropped because something’s changed,”

Michael explained.

“Now we have a storyline, it’s looking really good and it’s a chance to show that we’ve got something - and give the family a chance to really blend and show what they’re all about.”

Claire Young was accused of cheating by a rival contestant from the hit TV show The Apprentice.

Claire faced claims that she broke the rules during the ’supercars’ task showing next week. The cheating row began around claims that the young retail buyer had telephoned friends off-camera to increase business for her team.

One of Sugars rules states that all phone calls have to be made while on camera, by calling friends off-camera this would be deemed as a breach of Sugars rule and could have resulted in her being forced to leave the show.

A show insider said:-

“The other contestant claims Claire made a couple of cheeky phone calls to mates. The others went up the wall.

“Claire pleaded her innocence to show bosses saying some of her jealous rivals had got the wrong end of the stick. In the end they believed her and no action was taken.”

Patrick Swayze and wife Lisa Niemi of nearly 33 years, renewed their wedding vows. The couple exchanged vows at their New Mexico ranch in front of a small group of friends.

Patrick is currently battling with pancreatic cancer which he was diagnosed with earlier this year and undergoing chemotherapy treatment in California.

A source close to the couple said:

“It was very important to him to express his love and commitment to Lisa. They both mean the world to one another.”

The Dirty Dancing star rose concerns when he put his real estate into a living trust.

An insider added:

“It’s deadly serious. Doctors have told him that if or when the cancer spreads to his brain he has two weeks to live.”

“Monty Don aged 52 suffered a minor stoke which has caused him to stand down from his presenting duties to the BBC 2 show ‘Gardeners’ world

He has been presenting the show since 2003 and was popular with its veiwers. a BBC spokesperson has this to say:-

“Monty Don has decided to stand down as the main presenter of Gardeners’ World.

“Monty has presented the series for the past five years but has been off our screens for the past six weeks as a result of a minor stroke.

“Although he is making a good recovery he feels unable to commit to regular filming for a while.”

It added that Don would be “sorely missed by viewers and the production team”.

Don is taking the summer off to recuperate from his ordeal but does intend to be back on our screens as soon as he feels fit enough to do so, he had this to say:-

“I am proud to have led Gardeners’ World for the past five years and have enjoyed every minute of sharing my passion with the programmes viewers.

“I intend to take some gardening leave for the rest of the summer to make a full recovery and so that I am ready to tackle new projects.”

Doomsday

When the deadly reaper virus strikes the authorities have no choice but to corner off the whole of Scotland and leave its inhabitants to die before the virus can spead any further. Three decades after this brutal quarantine, the entire population is presumed dead behind a high-tech 21st century version of Hadrian’s wall - but whenthe reaper virus resurfaces this time in London and it become evident that there are survivors of the virus (caught by a satellite) an elite group of specialists are sent into the nightmarish wastelands that was once Glasgow to apprehend one of the survivors to develope a cure by any means necessary

Although the movies story lacks substance for example where did the virus come from? how did it reemerge? why dont the cars windows seem to work during the car chase at the end of the film? and most importantly how come non of the survivors sound remotely Scottish? it is still very entertaining to watch if you enjoy action packed stunts, explosions and a lot of Gorey scenes - definitely not for the squeamish.
