The late Heath Ledger has been nominated for a Golden Globe after his final acting role as the Joker in The Dark Night this year. His family have expressed their appreciation to the Hollywood Foreign Association for allowing this to happen.
Ledger, died in January after an accidental drug overdose before the Batman sequel was released. Nether the less, it was still felt that his performance warranted a Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actor.
His Dad said:-
“We thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for honouring Heath’s performance in The Dark Knight,” Ledger’s dad Kim said in a statement to People.
“This nomination is deeply appreciated and is not lost on those of us who continue to love and miss him. We are so proud our boy’s work is being recognised in this way.”
There was some speculation that he has only been given the nomination due his unfortunate death, however these people have obviously never seen his performance in the film!
