Although there was much speculation earlier this year that Dannii Minogue may be replaced in the up coming 2009 addition to the X Factor, it still remained inconclusive. However, it has now been reported that producers are looking to recruit a new judge.
Nothing has been confirmed yet but the X Factor team are said be ‘open-minded’ about replacing Dannii.
The contract negotiations are a long process and the final talks to determine her continuation on the TV show will not take place until March. If they decide to remove her from the panel it will only leave them a month to find a new judge.
A source said:-
“It’s no secret they like to revamp the show every year. The chatter about Dannii going is deafening,”
“But it has to be the right person, otherwise there is no point in replacing her. They want someone as good as Cheryl Cole, who has been sensational.”
Charlotte Church was once rumoured to be a possible replacement to Dannii if push came to shove but she has recently ruled out the possibility of joining the panel.
I am unsure that a replica of Cheryl Cole would be a good idea though. She is a unique addition to the panel which makes her stand out, I just cant see it working if someone else similar to her is brought on as a judge. They need someone will who can bring there own unique properties to the judging panel.
Comments on a replacement are welcome…….
ITV has decided to cease production on Heartbeat and its spin-off show The Royal after its current production run has been completed, however they have stock piled enough episodes to air another two series of the once popular traditional dramas this year and in 2010 - so don’t panic yet!
An ITV representative said:-
“Heartbeat and The Royal are an important part of ITV’s schedule and are currently in production,”
However, they didn’t want to comment on the future of the programmes after 2010.
Heartbeat, originally showed up on our screens in 1992 and at its peak brought in about 10million in viewers at its peak. The Royal is a spin off drama from Heartbeat and was launched in 2003 however, in recently both the shows figures have been suffering.
ITV has been reeling it in from the success of programmes such as Dancing On Ice and I’m A Celebrity. This success has been partly to blame for the end of these dramas and these shows may not be the only casualties as last week it was announced that ITV will be drawing back on production on police drama The Bill.

Warner Brothers are said to be making a third Tomb Raider movie.
Paramount had made the previous two installments Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft: Cradle Of Life, however the rights to the Tomb Raider franchise have since reverted back to the games makers ‘Eidos’. Who is turn sold the rights to Warner Brothers as part of an agreement when Warner Brothers increased its stake in Eidos.
For those that don’t know, the very popular video game surrounds the adventures of the sexy/acrobatic archaeologist played by Angelina Jolie in the last two movies. Although no cast has been released for the movie yet it seems unlikely that Angelina will revive the role and rumours have it that Transformers Megan Fox may take it on instead.
I am personally a keen fan of Megan Fox (for many reasons) but i do think that Angelina was made for this role and i just can’t see how she could measure up against her.
However, i sincerely hope i am wrong!….
It was a shock to most people when suprisingly Ulrika Jonsson won Celebrity Big Brother earlier this week, however producers were pleased that she won.
It was Verne Troyer who was the bookies faviorate, however he finished in forth place and Ulrika took the title against Terry Christian in the final vote.
When Divina called the results out, Ulrika said:
“Oh my God, that’s just bonkers! It’s a fix.”
Its been said by a shows insider that:
“It is good to get a shock every so often. The last series of Big Brother was incredibly predictable, as it was the previous summer. It’s quite nice when you end up with a result which takes some people unawares.”
The source added:
“The bookies definitely got it wrong this time but maybe they were too hasty in going all out for Verne. After all, Ulrika survived the public vote again and again so there was always a core of support there for her.”
Sanjaya Malakar is a former American Idol contestant and he has wrote a book based on his experience on the talent show.
Malakar, was in the final line up to the show but finished seventh place in the shows sixth season. He is the first contestant to write a book about the whole experience and he feels that he has a story that no other past contestant could tell - i personally doubt it.
Alan Goldsher was the co-wrote the book, which contains a lot more information regarding the intense audition process and more interestingly about the trails that contestants go through before they are shown on TV.
Malakar does however show appreciation for the show:-
“The show… really helped and formed who I am as an artist,” he said. “I basically grew up in front of everyone on the show. I was about to turn 17 when I first auditioned.”
Mobile phones have become so much more advanced in recent years and as we all know, its become increasingly easier to download movies onto your phone to watch where ever you like.
With mobile phones such as the Nokia 6500 Slide with its 3.2 mega pixel camera, it has become the norm for people to create there own videos and place them on many different social networking sites for others to view.
Mobile phones have already been very popular with the general public for downloading ring tones from many online sites, however movie download sites seem to be the next big thing, especially for people who generally have long distances to travel via public transport, the most common being students with a long commute.
TV is also now available to most phones now so its almost impossible to miss your favourite soaps or keep up-to-date with recent news etc…
It comes as no surprise that recent movie releases are the most common downloads to mobile phones and with the films industry constantly releasing various new movies regularly, it doesn’t look like this is going to change anytime soon. Movie rental establishments such as blockbuster has already started to feel the pinch after downloading movies to your computer became the big thing a while back, so i can imagine that movie downloads to your mobile phone is not going to do them any favours.
Could this be the end for blockbusters ……
Britannia High was expected to be a massive hit for ITV1, what not with the success of High School Musical and others of a similar nature.
It came as quite a surprise that it only managed to bring in 3.31 million viewers on its opening episode which slipped to 2.4 million by the third installment, these poor ratings for a production like this warranted show bosses to discontinue the programme.
The musical TV show cost £2 million to produce was created by Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips and Take That singer Gary Barlow.
“We thought Britannia High would be an all-singing, all-dancing success - especially having the top names in dance and music on board,” a source told The Sun.
“Sadly, the stories of these youngsters vying for their dreams didn’t seem to capture viewers’ imagination.
“The credit crunch is affecting everything, not least TV. A second series of Britannia High was just not viable.”
I personally feel that although the shows original model was good, that dier story lines and poor acting were partly at fault not to mention the inability for the audiene to connect to any of the leading cast all contibuted to its down fall.

A film poster advertising ‘Righteous Kill‘ has caused offence at Stockwell Tube station. It was placed near where Jean Charles de Menezes (27) was shot dead after being mistaken for a suicide bomber.
To most people it may seem a little OTT for people to be offended by this as it obviously has no relevancy to the event that took place but it was the tagline that cause the stir, it read:-
“There’s nothing wrong with a little shooting as long as the right people get shot.”
The Advertising Standards Authority felt as though it did breach guidelines on decency and said:-
“We understood the siting of the poster at the station was unintentional, but nevertheless considered that the text had the potential to cause serious offence in that location,”
Posters such as this are becoming increasingly popular with film buffs nowadays especially canvas prints which are available on many online stores. Latest movie releases, actors and actresses seem to be the main focus for this kind product with images being copied and printed on canvas.
Although you would have thought that colored versions should be the most attractive, it seems like black and white prints have made the biggest leap in sales in recent months.
Lost actor Matthew Fox has promised Lost fans that the final episode will have nothing short than a “global and epic ending”.
The show closed the last series on yet another cliff hanger, seeing the island being transported away from its current location. The fifth season will be its last, hopefully answering some of the many questions viewers have been dieing to know about since the shows beginning.
“All of us knew that if the show was strung out indefinitely, it was going to ruin the story,” he told Details. “It’s not like a doctor drama, where you have a new case each week.
“This show started with a plane crash on an island in the South Pacific, and it’s going to have a very global and epic ending.”
Fox, aged 42 plays Jack Shephard on the thrilling TV show. He has been very happy with his charater throughout the last few seasons and added:-
“When it’s all said and done, you’ll be able to look at the five seasons of Lost and see a pretty amazing character arc,” he said. “Jack has been evolving, and not necessarily into a good place.
“We started the show with him being this hero who had no concept of what that required, sort of trying to live up to the expectations . . . and then finding the way to redeem himself.”
Tom Cruise is due to appear on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross later this month, however he is now considering canceling his participation on the show after learning of Jonathan Ross’s suspension surrounding his role in the Andrew Sachs prank a few months back.
Ross has been wanting to land more big names on the TV chat show to boost ratings and Tom Cruise on the show would do just that, talking about his new movie Valkyrie. Tom was unaware of the controversy involving Jonathan Ross and is scared it will damage his image further by appearing on the show.
“Tom was not aware that Ross had been suspended because of his behaviour,” said an associate of the actor.
“Now that Tom has been told about the phone calls he is having second thoughts. He does not want to be involved in any controversy.”
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet have already declined offers to appear on the show and BBC bosses are concerned that more will follow suit and boycott the show.
A BBC spokesperson denied the speculation, saying: “We are not having any trouble booking the same high-calibre guests we have always had on the show. It is business as usual.”
Ross’s hopes that the unfortunate event was now behind him are shattered and it would seem that the Andrew Sachs prank will still haunt him for sometime to come.
