Everyone remembers the Black Versace outfit (better known now as the ‘Safety Pin’ dress) that Liz Hurley’s made famous and it has now been voted as the most iconic garment in a Debenhams Survey.
She wore the dress back in 1994 to the premier of Four Weddings And A Funeral whilst supporting the lead male role to the film, Hugh Grant as they were in a relationship at the time and turned this unknown actress into a household name over night. It was given a run for its money by Audrey Hepburn who came second for her Givenchy number worn back in the 1954 Oscars.
The survey consisted of 3000 women who were asked the rate the best celebity dress of all time and was in tough competition with other celebs sporting various different fashion dresses such as Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta Jones, Jennifer Lopez, Keira Knightley, Kate Winslet, Halle Berry, Bjork and Kate Moss.
Extras:“Liz Hurley’s daring ’safety pin’ dress is one of the most famous black dresses worn on the red carpet, which made her a household name overnight,” a Debenhams spokesman told the Daily Telegraph.
“At the time she was another unknown actress, more famous for being Hugh Grant’s girlfriend, but by wearing ‘that dress’ she soon had worldwide fame.”
