Untraceable review

untraceableWith high expectations of this film. I was subsequently let down by the quality of Untraceable, when comparing to better films.

Diane Lane plays the FBI agent working within the cybercrime unit who is out to find the killer (played by Joseph Cross) who streams live videos of his acts of torture and murder across America via his website. The twist is, the more hits the website gets the sooner and more painful the victims die.

In one scene we see a man who is slowly boiled to death in battery acid. This really is the best scene in the film. I was really expecting more from this film, probably due to the excitement that the Saw films generated, where there really was nothing but horror, gore and an excellent plot line too.

I would hope that we wont see any sequels from this film, mainly to stop bordem. It really comes to something when i can take one of my friends to see this film, who is dead against horror and gore, and find her laughing at scenes that are supposed to shock.

I would imagine the main aim of this film was to show that we are turning into a society of voyeurs ready to use the internet to see the suffering of others. This could have worked better if the film was made or at least written by someone who knew how to truly shock us with film.

It is recommended that you wait for the dvd, as its not worth wasting a night out for.
